The celebration of the “Vara” in Randazzo<\/b> is an extraordinary event that make faith, tradition and big sense of community all united. Every year, on <\/span>August 15<\/b>, on the occasion of the <\/span>feast of the Assumption of the Maria Vergine<\/b>, the city comes alive with devotion and collective participation, paying homage to a centuries-old tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Vara” is an imposing triumphal chariot that represents the Assumption of the Vergine Maria<\/strong>, with a scenography that involves significant figures such as San Tommaso and San Michele Arcangelo, all impersonated by boys of about thirteen years old. This youthful aspect gives a sense of continuity and renewal to the tradition, with the passing of the baton from one generation to the next.<\/span><\/p>\n

The procession winds through the main streets of Randazzo<\/strong>, creating a festive atmosphere that involves not only the direct participants, but also the community that watches from balconies and windows, throwing sweets and candies to the boys on the chariot. This gesture symbolizes participation and the sharing of collective joy.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the past, the procession has undergone various interruptions due to historical events, such as epidemics and wars, but its resumption in 1952 marked a moment of rebirth for the community. The organization of the festival is a collective commitment that involves parishes and brotherhoods, helping to keep the cultural and religious traditions of the area alive.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the procession, the festival offers markets, musical performances and moments of conviviality, enriching the experience for visitors and making the celebration a moment of joy and unity<\/strong>.
